A bespoke marble fireplace feature designed and fabricated by the Elegant Fittings workshop for Palm Valley’s common area, using Scalea Negro Marquina to anchor a sophisticated lounge space. The full-height black marble surround, with its natural white veining, rises from floor to ceiling against warm timber shelving and a curated library backdrop.

The Brief

Palm Valley wanted a fireplace feature substantial enough to serve as the focal point of a shared lounge space, with the gravitas of genuine natural marble in a high-traffic commercial setting. The brief called for a material that would feel timeless and high-end, holding up to the demands of a communal area used daily by residents and guests.

Our Solution

Scalea Negro Marquina was fabricated as a full-height fireplace surround, its natural black background and white veining left to read as the dominant feature of the room. Set against built-in timber shelving and warm lighting, the marble grounds the space while contrasting with the orange seating and softer furnishings around it. The result is a commercial common area with a genuine sense of permanence and craft, built around natural stone as its centerpiece.
