Custom Thermoformed Quartz Vanilla Noir Vanity, Nairobi

A bespoke vanity console fabricated in Nairobi, Kenya by the Elegant Fittings workshop, brought to life in partnership with an interior designer who conceived the original concept. Caesarstone Vanilla Noir was thermoformed into a sweeping curved support beneath a solid timber shelf, demonstrating fabrication craftsmanship beyond flat surface work.

The interior designer’s concept called for a vanity that would read as a sculptural object rather than a standard countertop installation, with a curved form that would be difficult to achieve in timber or metal at the same scale. Realizing the design required a fabrication partner capable of forming quartz into a continuous curve without compromising structural integrity.

The vanity support was thermoformed from Caesarstone Vanilla Noir, a process where the quartz surface is heated and reduced in thickness until it becomes flexible enough to form into a continuous curve, then set and finished without losing structural integrity. Working from the designer’s concept, the workshop fabricated the curved support, paired it with a solid timber shelf and a vessel basin, and finished the piece against a backlit mirror and wall sconces. The result brought the designer’s vision to life while demonstrating the workshop’s capability to manipulate quartz beyond standard flat fabrication.
